Whiten Your Teeth In One Day: We Asked Professionals
According to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, 25% of people with a flawed smile are objectively less confident. If you have an event coming up soon that’ll require you to flash your pearly whites, the question then becomes: can you whiten your teeth in one day?
Smiles are important to a lot of people. If you have a conference or event coming up, don’t forget to brush your teeth and clear any debris or stains that might show up in photos. If you’re looking to go that extra mile, why not try teeth whitening?
We talked to Julien Tanneau, co-founder of The Smile Bar, to get his opinion on the subject matter. He and his team have spent the better part of the last decade looking for ways to effectively, quickly, and safely whiten your teeth.
So, can you whiten your teeth in one day? Let’s find out what the pros have to say about it.
Can You Whiten Your Teeth in One Day?
Whitening your teeth in one day is a feat done often. If you undergo your teeth whitening treatment with a professional salon, you can well expect your teeth to come out whiter immediately after the session. If you do it yourself at home, expect observable results within the next month.
The effectiveness of your teeth whitening procedure depends on what you do. Will you do it at home or at the office? Will you use research-backed methods or natural processes?
Tonneau explains that “How white your teeth can get depends on the product you use. It depends on whether you use it at home, the dentist, or the teeth whitening spa. There are different ways to whiten your teeth with differing results”
How To Whiten Your Teeth In One Day
In an ideal world, brushing your teeth routinely should be enough to keep your set of choppers pearly white – even without the need for routine dentist appointments. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t work like that. We need to take special care of our teeth to prevent further staining and discoloration.
Most, if not all, teeth whitening procedures fall under 1 of 2 categories:
- At-Home Whitening Kits – the products that fall under this category include over-the-counter, peroxide-based whiteners that whiten your teeth without the need for professional consultation.
- Professional Teeth Whitening – as opposed to the DIY solutions presented by home whitening kits, professional teeth whitening is supervised by highly trained specialists. It employs the use of high concentrations of peroxide to penetrate the enamel and change the color of the dentin underneath.
Tanneau continues, “The key ingredient for all teeth whitening processes is hydrogen peroxide. Each product and process will use different concentrations of hydrogen peroxide to whiten teeth.“
In-office whitening procedures often use up to 35% solutions of hydrogen peroxide in conjunction with LED or laser lights that activate the whitening gel.
On the other hand, at-home whitening treatments only contain up to a 7% hydrogen peroxide concentration. While this lower concentration will still whiten your teeth, it will be some time before you find noticeable results.
What allows professionals to whiten your teeth using high concentrations of hydrogen peroxide? They take extra care not to overdo it. When left on your teeth for long periods, you run the risk of leaving lasting damage to your gums and teeth enamel.
Whitening clinics, on the other hand, take all the necessary precautions to protect the teeth and gums during in-office whitening. Over-the-counter products, on the other hand, will require you to follow the directions exactly or face incredibly adverse side effects.
Picking The Right Teeth Whitening Clinic
We’ve established that the one clear way to get whiter teeth is to go through professional whitening. However, not all teeth whitening clinics offer the same services at the same level.
Here are three standards that you should always hold your teeth whitening clinic to:
Efficiency
When you need your teeth whitened in one day, time is of the essence. As a customer, you want fast service. Receiving a good customer experience is about receiving what you want through a decluttered process from the service provider.
As a business, efficiency helps with managing your customer experience and customer journey. When you provide a good customer experience, a client will be more likely to stay and become loyal supporters of the organization.
Efficacy
On top of receiving a quick service, you want a successful one too. While it’s difficult to establish the standard for what it’d mean to be an effective whitening service provider, we can compare the efficacy of professional services to at-home whitening kits.
In that regard, we see a stark difference between the two. In-office whiteners are much stronger than the latter as they generally contain more peroxide in their solution. As a result, they can change the observable color of your teeth at a much faster pace.
Safety
The final thing you should look for in a good teeth whitening provider is safety. You want whiter teeth without the sensitivity, irritation, and inflammation that may come with them.
The risk factor multiplies when you take matters into your own hands through DIY whitening solutions. At home, you run the risk of failing to follow specific instructions, using too much product or using it too often.
“Fast, Cheap, or Good? Pick Two.” is often used to represent the iron triangle of service. You can’t expect service to fulfill this value trio – because no business can. Here at The Smile Bar, however, we try our best to reach all three standards.
The Smile Bar checks all three boxes of a great teeth whitening clinic. Our process whitens your teeth by 2 to 9 shades in as quick as 20 minutes. It’s a fast, easy, and effective process that leaves your teeth noticeably whiter almost instantly – without the side effects.
Julien Tanneau attributes their service’s safety to its product partner, Brilliant Smile. “Brilliant Smile is Sweden’s leading teeth whitening brand. Their high-quality teeth care products undergo heavy research and testing in Europe, ensuring that the results they offer are consistent and safe.”
“The Smile Bar’s teeth whitening system works because our whitening gel has been developed and tested by Brilliant Smile. The Smile Bar has exclusive access to their whitening gel and is a proud partner of Brilliant Smile’s core vision of globalizing safe and effective teeth whitening processes.”, he continues.
