Stories - Aaron Atayde

Goodbye yellowness, hello confidence!

It may come as a big surprise that television personality Aaron Atayde, the lead anchor of SportsCenter Philippines, has long had issues with his smile. “I drink tons and tons of coffee. I can’t start my day without one, and I can’t get through the rest of the day without another,” he quips. “Yes, it’s because of the caffeine, but it’s also because I love the taste.”

All that coffee, along with the smoking habit that he’s already successfully kicked, made his teeth very yellow. Aaron confessed that he tends to cover his mouth when he’s caught smiling, and that he couldn’t let himself laugh whole-heartedly because his heavily-stained teeth made him awfully self-conscious. He also admits that thinking about how his teeth looks on camera tends to make him anxious.

Seeing the obvious discoloration in the mirror every single morning only amplified his insecurities, which he wanted to get rid of once and for all.

"Aaron confessed that he tends to cover his mouth when he’s caught smiling, and that he couldn’t let himself laugh whole-heartedly because his heavily-stained teeth made him awfully self-conscious. He also admits that thinking about how his teeth looks on camera tends to make him anxious."

He first heard about The Smile Bar from a friend, and he gave it a try in August 2018. Not knowing what to expect, he played it safe and initially opted only for a Single Whitening session. He admits to being quite skeptical; he felt that the procedure might not work on him because of two reasons: the degree of his teeth’s discoloration, and the very short treatment time.

But when his teeth got obviously whiter — eight shades lighter, to exact — in just 30 minutes, Aaron immediately upgraded to Double Whitening. The top-up got him an additional four shades, and by the time he left the store, he couldn’t bring himself to stop smiling at everyone and everything with teeth that were 12 shades lighter.

“It just felt so great that I didn’t need to live with self-consciousness anymore,” he enthuses. The yellowness, and all the insecurities that came with it, had finally disappeared after so many years, and in just an hour, too. He no longer needed to cover his mouth when he smiles. He no longer had to restrain himself when he wants to laugh his heart out. He no longer had to worry about how his teeth would look onscreen and in photos.

“I can laugh and smile and go through my day without having thinking of all that. It’s liberating.”
